(Day 1) Ulaanbaatar to Elsen Tasarkhai

Ulaanbaatar β†’ Hustai National Park

Hotel pick-upΒ β€” Your private vehicle and driver-guide collect you from your Ulaanbaatar hotel lobby.
Pack light layers; the steppe temperature shifts quickly.
Scenic drive westΒ β€” Approx. 100 km along the Tuul River valley. Your guide shares background on Mongolian nomadic culture, the history of the Przewalski horse reintroduction program, and what to expect in the park.
Arrive at Hustai National ParkΒ β€” Check in to the tourist camp. Drop off bags and meet the park rangers who will guide your wildlife excursion.
Lunch at the tourist campΒ β€” Traditional Mongolian meal: tsuivan (stir-fried noodles with meat), khuushuur, and seasonal salads.
Afternoon steppe walkΒ β€” Guided hike through Hustai's rolling hills. Learn to identify the park's diverse birdlife β€” eagles, falcons, and cranes are common. The guide explains how the park ecosystem was restored over 30 years.
Takhi wildlife driveΒ β€” The golden hour is the best time to spot Przewalski's horses (takhi). Board the park's designated wildlife vehicle and head to known grazing areas. Herds of 10–30 horses are regularly sighted at this time.
