Flight Schedules & Start/End Times:
Early Arrival: If your flight lands early in the morning, the tour can commence as early as 05:00 AM.
Afternoon/Late Arrival: If your flight lands in the afternoon or evening, you will spend the night in Ulaanbaatar, and the tour will officially depart the following morning at 08:00 AM.
Tour Conclusion: The tour wraps up to match your departure flight, typically arriving back in Ulaanbaatar between 15:00 and 17:00 on the final day.
Delays & Scheduling: Daily schedules and arrival times at camps may shift or run late due to extended meal times, unpredictable road conditions, and frequent rest or restroom stops along the remote routes.

Frequently asked questions

What is the driving distance to Arkhangai?

The journey is a beautiful but long scenic drive (approximately 450–500 km each way). We break up the trip with beautiful viewpoints, restroom stops, and a traditional lunch along the way.

What are the sleeping arrangements like?

You will stay in a traditional Mongolian Ger (Yurt) right next to the nomadic family. The Ger is equipped with standard single beds, linens, and a central wood-burning stove to keep you warm and cozy at night. It is a genuine, authentic stay, not a tourist resort.

Are there modern toilets and showers?

Because this is a real herder family's home, the toilet is a standard countryside eco-pit toilet located outside. However, every single evening you will visit the nearby Tsenkher Hot Springs facilities, where you can shower, clean up, and soak in the treated, relaxing hot spring pools of Duut Resort.
The remaining 90% balance must be paid in cash (USD) upon your arrival in Mongolia. Please ensure your USD bills are crisp, new, and unblemished.

What kind of meals are provided?

The tour is fully inclusive of breakfast, lunch, and dinner for all 5 days. You will eat hearty, traditional meals cooked fresh by the family. If you have specific dietary restrictions (vegetarians, allergies, etc.), please let us know during booking so we can coordinate with the family in advance.

Do I need riding experience for the daily horse riding?

Not at all! The family’s horses are well-trained and gentle. The herders will guide you, match you with the right horse, and accompany you to ensure you feel safe and comfortable, whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced rider.

Will anyone speak English during the tour?

Your driver on Day 1 and Day 5 speaks English and will help you get settled and introduced to the family. During the middle days (Days 2–4), the herder family speaks minimal English.

The Immersive Experience: Most travelers find that using gestures, translation apps, and participating in daily chores creates a wonderful, deeply personal connection even without shared language!

Can I hire a professional guide?

Yes! If you prefer to have a fluent, professional English-speaking tour guide with you for the entire 5 days to translate every conversation and deep-dive into the history, you can select the "Tour Guide Add-on" during checkout.

Cultural Souvenirs How does the traditional clothing (Deel) making work?

The family will teach you the basics of Mongolian craftsmanship, and you can participate in cutting or stitching a traditional vest or Deel. While the experience and guidance are completely free, the cost of the silk/fabric is separate. You can choose your preferred fabric type and color, and pay for the raw material cost directly on-site.
